Affiliate Marketing...Yeh or Nah?

Now, I am going to be upfront with you. To date I have not had any luck with affiliate marketing. That is not to say that it can’t be done. On the contrary, people have found great success using this option. I think I just suck at the marketing aspect and the determination. Affiliate Marketing takes time and effort. Some have waited a long time before they made their first sale, others started making money right away. But no matter which category you fall into, if you want to succeed, you must put in the work. Money can be made, especially if you have some extra time on your hands and can put your full commitment to making it work. But before you start, I want you to throw away one delusion and that is “that you will become rich overnight”. You might make a lot of money in a day but you won’t become Jeff Bezos rich overnight. Tossed it away? Ok good. Now we can take a look at four of the most popular affiliate marketing sites which I've tried personally.

SHAREASALE

Shareasale is one of the largest and most popular affiliate marketing sites. It has been in business for over 19 years and it’s built up a lot of trust in the affiliate industry. It is user-friendly and has a huge amount of merchants to choose from.

  • Easy, fast and free signup

  • Wide product selection

  • Easy digital payouts

  • It may take some time to set up and be accepted by some merchants.

Shopstyle collective is an excellent choice for the fashion blogger who is looking to monetize their website. However, although fashion is one of the main products on the site, it also promotes home goods and beauty products. Shopstyle collective offers the ability to partner with top brands to generate branded and promotional content. Influencers earn a percentage of every sale they drive with our Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) structure. You can earn 75% revenue share on your first 90 days.

Pros:

  • Ability to search for your favorite brands to promote.

  • ShopStyle’s Pay Per Click program (PPC lets you get paid for each click on your links that sends someone to a ShopStyle partner. This model is especially helpful for people who get a lot of clicks with their affiliate links, but don’t often convert them to sales.) I heard this was going to end so I don't know if this is still an option but it was when I first signed up.

  • People with little traffic can still use ShopStyle Collective

  • User-Friendly

  • Easy-to-understand analytics

  • Easy to create content for your site like widgets, looks, collections and videos.

  • Easy to get accepted

  • PPC commissions are very low

  • PPC is ending soon and influencers who wish to remain in the ShopStyle Collective program will need to apply for CPA
